Question: Where’s the smoking section?

Answer: There’s not one. Pursuant to Mecklenburg County Ordinance, Rural Hill is now a tobacco-free zone. This includes both smoking, smokeless tobacco, e-cigarettes, vaporizers and other such devices.

Question: Can I bring my dog or other pets.

Answer: No dogs or other pets are allowed during this event except for service dogs and dogs that have been preapproved for the Parade of Scottish Dog Breeds.

Question: Can I bring my own tent or umbrella and chair?

Answer: You may bring a small umbrella for your own personal use, however the use of large yard umbrellas and tents inside the festival area are prohibited. You may bring a folding lawn or camp chair.

Question: Do I have to purchase tickets on line?

Answer: There will be tickets for sale at the front gate. If you do not have or have lost your ticket you will be shown where to purchase one.

Question: Can I bring in my own food?

Answer: No, there will be vendors here to provide you with food and drink, and they are reasonably priced. We will even have several vendors serving traditional Scottish food.

Question: What if it rains?

Answer: The Rural Hill Scottish Festival and Loch Norman Highland Games is a rain or shine event. Activities are paused in the event of a thunderstorm and are resumed after the threat of lightning has passed.

Question: Do you take Credit Cards at the front gate?

Answer: Yes, we take credit cards and ATM machines are located onsite for your convenience.

Question: Can I bring in my own drinks?

Answer: Only sealed plastic bottles of water and/or empty Nalgene-type water bottles are allowed inside. Absolutely no glass containers or alcohol of any type may be brought into the event. 

Question: I have a drone, can I fly it and take pictures of the property and/or event?

Drones are not allowed on Rural Hill property or at ANY Rural Hill event unless written permission from Rural Hill Staff has been obtained. To inquire about obtaining permission, please contact the office of Rural Hill at 704 875 3113 or email jessica@ruralhill.net
