Sheaf Toss
Though technically an agricultural sport, it is a staple at most Highland Games.
-
The Implement: A burlap bag (the “sheaf”) stuffed with straw or rope, weighing 16–20 lbs.
-
The Technique: Using a traditional three-tined pitchfork, the athlete tosses the sheaf over a high bar. Like the Weight over Bar, this is a “last man standing” event where the bar continues to rise.
